Why Fat Girls Don't Run

Ow. Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow.

So I decided to try to run on Monday... I thought I did really well when I ran for 3 solid minutes without dying. Well... My thighs STILL hurt. People keep asking me if I'm ok because my knees just kind of buckle under me every now and then....

So... um.... yeah. That's how my training is going.

Sorry I've been off the blog lately... Work pretty much sucks, and our browsers block all blogs, so even if I have down time I can't log on from the office. But I had a REALLY good talk with my boss today and so I think things will be looking up :)

SO ANYWAY... Hope you are all doing well and I will try to get some updates posted more often :)

Tis the season

Hello all,

Did you think I had dropped out of the triathlon? Or even worse, dropped off the face of the earth? I guess volleyball season can be considered as a hole that I crawl into and don't come out of for about 4 months. It's been an enjoyable season this year. We are going into post season play this coming week and will hopefully advance in the 2 weeks after that. Then it will be back to me. At least 90% of the time as I devote more time to training and getting ready for the tri. I'm trying to recruit another girl for the group. It would be great.

I better run and get some work done.

Later,
Lynn

Tuesday: Solo Session

So today is a day unsupervised training. Here's the plan, taking into account I will not try to do as much weight as I do when my trainer is with me.

I have one more session with Jimmy on Thursday, then he is gone. *sniff* He promised to write down a couple of routines I can follow until I am training regularly with Freddy or Brandon.

Cardio Warm-up -
Treadmill 10 mins.
Lat Pull-down - 3 sets of 12 @ 70lbs.
Bent-leg Dumbbel Rows - 17.5 lbs 3 sets of 12
Leg Press- 3 sets of 12 @ 540 lbs.
Walking Lunges - 3 sets of 20
Barbell Chest Press - 3 sets of 12 @ 75 lbs.
Dumbbell Chest Press (Legs Up) - 3 sets of 12 with 17.5 weights
Hanging Knee Raises - 3 sets of 12
Plank - 3 times @ 45 - 60 Seconds (to failure)

Running - Goal 1.5 miles in <12.5>
Of course this goal will take plenty of time to achieve!

Wednesday - Swimming Drills
Thursday - PT Session, 30 Mins Cardio
Friday - 45 Minutes Running Intervals

Some sad news... My trainer is quitting. His uncle made him an offer in the family business he can't refuse. He's got a baby on the way, and I think is seeking a little more stability than personal training can offer him right now. In any case, he's doing right by me, trying to get me in with 1 of 2 Master Trainers. For that I'm grateful, as I don't want to be trained by some Rookie who doesn't take me seriously. It might take a couple weeks, but it will be worth the wait if Freddy takes me on. I'm actually somewhat excited at the prospect of changing trainers. Sad to see Jimmy go, but welcome the new challenges Freddy will bring.

Started journaling in FitDay again -- need to make sure I'm getting all my nutrients. I was happy to find a support group of post-ops like me who do performance cycling and triathlons. My biggest concern is learning how to fuel for the challenge -- I've already been offered some really great ideas!

Hope all is well with everyone!

Courtney's Training Log (10/7 - 10/13)

Hey Folks-

I'm basically in one of my "perfect" stages, right now. Food *and* exercise are excellent and my willpower is superb. Why can't I be like this all the time? Oh well, don't look a gift horse in the mouth, right? :)

The Halloween Challenge has really helped me focus on my activity level. As of today's workout, I've completed 132 miles...a mere 18 miles remaining. Not too shabby, eh? I'll definitely start another challenge on November 1 to get me through the holidays. Hope everyone is doing well!
